Moving Cashbook to a New Computer

Cashbook v4 - Windows Only
From time to time, you may need to move your Dosh Cashbook application and data to a new computer. The following support note will guide you through the process of installing and registering Cashbook on a new computer and restoring your company backup file.

1. Download & Install Cashbook v4 onto your new computer (using Internet Explorer)
Download Cashbook v4 by clicking here.
The download manager will appear. Select the Run option when prompted at bottom of your screen.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
2. Set your Cashbook shortcut's compatibility settings
If you are installing Cashbook onto a Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10 computer, click here to setup your Cashbook shortcut.
Once compeleted, continue to step 3, below.
3. Register Cashbook on your new computer
Start Dosh Cashbook and click Continue in the options window
Next, click Help> Registration... at the top of your screen.
Accept the license agreement and enter your Registration PIN.
(If you do not know your PIN, check the same window in your original computer's Cashbook program)
4. Create an empty company file
In order to restore your company backup file, you will first need to create an empty company database.
At the top of your screen, select Cashbook> New...
Create a new folder within your Cashbook folder to store your company data.
Keep the name of the new folder as short as possible, example below:
In the Setup Wizard, enter only the Company Name for your new company file, no additional information is required.
Click Next through the remaining windows, no additional information is required.
The Setup Wizard will close, leaving you in your empty company file.
5. Restore your backup file into the empty company file
At the top of your screen, select File> Restore Back-up...
In the Restore Data File window, locate and select your backup file.
(Cashbook backups usually have a name similar to the example 'CB_ABC Limited_20150531_Data.zip', where 20150531 refers to 2015 May 31, being the date of the last recorded transaction)
Once the restore is complete, your new company file will be populated with the data from the backup file.
Note: Repeat steps 4 & 5 for any additional company files your need to restore on the new computer.
