How do I increase the speed in Mamut Business Software?

article ID: 2023488

There are several factors that can affect the speed of Mamut Business Software. Below are some steps that can increase the speed of the system.

System Requirements

You can read more about the system requirements here.

Defragmentation

Greater fragmentation of the hard drive on the server can cause problems with speed. This can be resolved by defragmenting the C:/Drive on the server, but before this can be done, the SQL service must be stopped.

Follow the steps below to defragment:

1. Open the control panel in Windows.

2. Change to classic view.

3. Go into Administrative Tools.

4. Go into Services.

5. In the list find; SQL Server (Mamut).

6. Right click on SQL Server (Mamut), and choose Stop.

7. Click Start – All Programs - Accessories – System Tools- Disk defragmenter.

8. Select disk C: and click on Defragmenter.

9. When the defragmenting has completed, go back to the window Services in point 4.

10. Right click on SQL Server (Mamut), and choose Start.

Antivirus

Antivirus programs can cause delays in Mamut, and in network installations can disrupt the connection between the workstation and the server. Therefore, it is recommended that Mamut be excluded from scanning, and other virus-checking. How this is done varies from program to program. Check your program's Help function to find out how.

Follow these steps:

  • Exclude Mamut and Mamuts files from automatic scanning or automatic protection. Check that both Mamut.exe and MDataTools.exe are excluded.
  • On the server machine, exclude Microsoft SQL Server 2008 from scanning if your antivirus program supports this. The Program file sqlservr.exe is usually located and installed to C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn.
  • On both the server and the work station, exclude Microsoft SQL Server Native Client from scanning in antivirus. The Program file SQLCMD.exe usually installed in C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn

Firewall

Firewalls often block Mamuts access to the Internet as it is necessary to verify licences. Therefore, Mamut must have access to the Internet. How this is done varies from program to program. Check your program's Help function to find out how.

The following must be done:

  • Give Mamut full access to the Internet in the firewall on the machine.
  • Give Microsoft SQL Server Native Client full access in the firewall on the machine.
  • If your machine runs Microsoft Small Business Server, set the number of connections per client to 2000 in the firewall Isa 2004. See the documentation for Small Business Server for details.
  • If possible set as the same in the firewall on the server if you don’t have a Small Business Server.
