Once you've signed up to AccountEdge Cloud, you'll receive an AccountEdge Cloud Registration email.
- Point 1 of the email shows you how to complete the activation of your AccountEdge Cloud account.
- Point 2 of the email describes how to connect your AccountEdge company file to your Dropbox account.
Step 1 - Open the company file you wish to link to AccountEdge Cloud
Once your company file is open, click the AccountEdge Cloud button on the main command centre window, shown below:
The Device Manager window will open, shown below:
Step 2 – Create a Dropbox account (if you don’t already have one)
If you already have a Dropbox account that you wish to use with AccountEdge, skip to Step 3.
If you’ve not already done so, you’ll need to create a Dropbox account. Dropbox is a secure, online location used to hold the data that is shared between AccountEdge and AccountEdge Cloud. Creating a Dropbox account is simple and free.
To create a Dropbox account, click the Visit Dropbox button in the Device Manager window.
Complete the simple registration window and click Create Account. No further steps are required with regard to Dropbox.
Note! Once your account has been created you may be prompted to download and install a Dropbox application. There is no requirement for you to install this application if you do not wish to do so.
Step 3 – Link your AccountEdge company file to your Dropbox account
In AccountEdge’s Device Manager window, click the Link to Dropbox button. An information window will appear:
Read the information message and click OK.
You will be taken to the Dropbox website, where you will be asked to Sign In to Dropbox (if not already signed in), and be presented with a request similar to below:
Click Allow to proceed.
You may notice that your AccountEdge icon is bouncing in your Dock:
Click your AccountEdge dock icon to return to AccountEdge, where you will be presented with the following question:
Click Yes. The AccountEdge Device Manager window will now display the linked Dropbox Account.
Step 4 – Create a Device name for AccountEdge Cloud
Click the Devices tab at the top of the Device Manager window.
This is where you will setup the device that will connect to your AccountEdge company file.

Click the New button to create a new Device.
The Device Information window will open, similar to below:
Enter an appropriate Device Name for the company file you wish to link, and select the AccountEdge Cloud application.
When you're happy with your Device Name, click Save.
You’ll now be presented with a list of the different types of records that can be made available to AccountEdge Cloud, similar to below:
In the example above, all records for all record types have been selected; this is the default setting.
Click OK. The device now appears in the Devices list.
Step 5 – Synchronise Dropbox with AccountEdge
In the Device Manager window, select the Details tab and click the Sync button, as shown below:
This step uploads the selected data into your Dropbox for use with AccountEdge Cloud.
Step 6 – Administer and use AccountEdge Cloud
You are now ready to administer and use your AccountEdge Cloud account.
Return and complete Points 3 and 4 of your AccountEdge Cloud Registration email.
